Your POH Is Lying

Precise flying is a numbers game. But can you really trust the numbers and other information in your Pilot’s Operating Handbook?

Aircraft owners/operators put a lot of faith in what we fly. Sometimes this faith is well-deserved—the aircraft getting a 100-hour inspection by a very reputable shop three times each year, for example. In other areas our faith is derived simply from a “fact” in chapter 5 of the Pilot’s Operating Handbook (POH). Is this faith well-deserved?


Every pilot should be accumulating a “library” of POHs and information manuals for the aircraft he or she flies.
