Pitch Or Power?

I am an avid reader of your magazine who just got signed off to take the Instrument rating practical test. I read with interest "Five ILS Gotchas" (January), but was troubled by author Ray Leisí advice that glidepath corrections should be made as follows: "Pitch controls altitude and power is used to control airspeed." I learned that method of descent control to get my VFR ticket.
