January 14, 2007, El Centro, Calif., Navion Model G

The airplane sustained substantial damage during an uncontrolled descent and subsequent collision with terrain at about 1700 Pacific time. The Private pilot and passenger sustained serious injuries. Visual conditions prevailed. A witness reported the airplane appeared to be doing a go-around maneuver just before it crashed.
