Military Ops Areas

I am a student pilot and plan to go through the Gladden 1 MOA in my cross country work. Pilots flying through this airspace should consider themselves a hostile participant in a military training exercise. Being escorted in the manner described would not be an unusual event ("The MOA Mess," May 2008). The pilotsí reaction to TCAS warnings should be just advisory in nature absent visual contact; it is important to note for your own safety predictability is paramount to the approaching military aircraft to avoid collision, sudden changes in your attitude, airspeed or altitude could further endanger your existence. Remember when in a military MOA it would be wise to contact the controlling entity and let them know how you react to TCAS warnings if that is your intention. You are part of the exercise when in the MOA when it is active! That being said, contacting the controlling center will make it less likely you will become the target in an exercise. You will most likely become one of the friendlies. Just my opinion. Thanks!
