August 20, 2010, Hollywood, Fla., Cessna 152

The airplane sustained substantial damage after a total loss of engine power at 0920 Eastern time while in the traffic pattern. Visual conditions prevailed. The commercial pilot and one passenger reported no injuries. The airplane had 22.5 gallons of fuel on board. No anomalies were noted before takeoff. The flight was at 250 feet msl when the engine sputtered and quit.
