December 20, 2010, Perris, Calif., Aero Commander 680FL

The airplane was substantially damaged and its airline transport pilot fatally injured at about 1000 Pacific time upon colliding with mountainous terrain. Instrument conditions prevailed; no flight plan had been filed. The flight originated from Palm Springs, Calif., about 0940. The wreckage was distributed on the crest of a 2500-foot peak.
