January 5, 2011, Midlothian, Texas, Columbia Aircraft LC41-550FG

At approximately 1045 Central time, the airplane was substantially damaged upon impact with terrain following loss of engine power on initial takeoff. Both the commercial pilot and passenger were fatally injured. Visual conditions prevailed. According to initial statements provided by witnesses, the airplane’s engine sounded normal until it was 100 to 200 feet agl.
