At 13:30 CST, a Beech B23 struck trees during a forced landing after losing engine power near New Braunfels, killing the solo student pilot. Witnesses saw the airplane passing overhead about 20 feet above the trees with no engine sound. The manager of the New Braunfels Municipal Airport reported that the pilot had radioed that his airplanes engine had lost power. The left wing apparently hit the trees first, causing the airplane to nose down into the trees.
