The airplane impacted the approach end of the runway at 1140 Pacific time and was substantially damaged. The commercial pilot sustained serious injuries. Visual conditions prevailed.

A witness watched the airplane turn from the base leg to final. The airplane was descending and changed from a nose-down attitude to nose-up attitude. The airplane then stalled and impacted the ground. Its engine sound did not change prior to ground impact.
