Stuck At Cruise Power

Power control lever stuck at cruise power while at altitude: When the crew tried to reduce power, the level could not be moved. Flight crew applied greater force and the power lever become unstuck and operated normally. After landing, maintenance personnel performed an inspection and function check of the engine power control but found nothing.

Maintenance records revealed an engine-compartment wash with soap and water was performed prior to the event flight. Suspect that water droplets on the power cable froze during flight. A maintenance alert will include new instructions for the task and the aircraft will be hangared for 12 hours so residual water can drain and/or evaporate.
