At about 1710 Eastern time, the airplane was substantially damaged when it impacted a field while performing low-level aerobatics. The private pilot and passenger were fatally injured. Visual conditions prevailed.

A witness was at a racing facility with a motorcycle racing team that the pilot owned. The witness observed the airplane perform a low pass over the area, reverse direction and initiate a barrel roll during the second low pass. The airplane subsequently collided with trees and terrain and a post-crash fire ensued. A second witness recorded a video of the aerobatic maneuver.
