The airplane impacted terrain at an undetermined time. The solo private pilot was fatally injured; the airplane was substantially damaged. Instrument conditions prevailed; the flight was not operating on an IFR clearance. The flight departed Fort Worth, Texas, en route to Tulsa, Okla.
After the pilot was reported overdue, the airplane wreckage was discovered by local law enforcement and the Civil Air Patrol. Weather in the vicinity at the time of the accident consisted of a wind from the southeast at 4-6 knots, visibility 2.5-3 miles in mist and an overcast ceiling at 200 feet.
