At about 1135 Eastern time, the airplane was substantially damaged following a loss of directional control after touchdown. The private pilot sustained minor injuries; the pilot-rated passenger had serious injuries. Visual conditions prevailed.

Witnesses reported the airplane “porpoised,” then rolled sharply to the right immediately after touchdown. The airplane then veered sharply to the left and departed the runway surface. The airplane struck a fence and came to rest, inverted, at the edge of a taxiway.
