At about 19:41 eastern time, a Piper PA-32-260 crashed while making a missed approach at Jacksonville International Airport. All four aboard were killed. The flight departed Fort Lauderdale three hours earlier and flew to St. Augustine, where it made a missed approach. The flight diverted to Craig Airport in Jacksonville, where it made a missed approach. It then diverted to Jacksonville International Airport, where the pilot missed another approach, and then the flight was lost from radar. The wreckage was not found for 18 hours.
