At about 1757 Eastern time, the airplane crashed in a wooded area adjacent to the airport during a visual approach, incurring substantial damage. Visual conditions prevailed. The pilot received minor injuries and the passenger was killed.

The pilot told local law enforcement personnel he intended to perform a touch-and-go landing before returning to the airplanes base. When the pilot approached the airport, there was less ambient light than hed anticipated. He did not notice the trees with which the airplane collided until after the crash. He reported no mechanical issues with the plane prior to the accident.
