The airplanes main gear collapsed during a forced landing at about 1300 Mountain time. The commercial pilot and his passenger were not injured, but the airplane sustained substantial damage. The wildlife aerial observation flight operating in visual conditions.

According to the pilot, the engine started to lose power and eventually stopped producing power altogether. The pilot attempted a forced landing on the rough, brush-covered terrain. Although the touchdown was successful, the main landing gear support structure failed during the landing roll, allowing both gear struts to fold outward.
