At approximately 1910 Central time, the airplane was destroyed during a forced landing following a reported loss of engine power while in initial-takeoff climb. The Commercial pilot and passenger were fatally injured. Visual conditions prevailed.

According to an FAA inspector, the pilot reported an engine problem to air traffic control during the initial-takeoff climb. The pilot then attempted to land on a highway south of the airport and subsequently collided with concrete barriers. The airplane came to rest at an intersection and was consumed by post-impact fire. The turbine engine also sustained thermal and impact damage.
