At about 1855 Eastern time, the airplane was substantially damaged following a collision with terrain while being vectored for an ILS approach. The private pilot was fatally injured. Night instrument conditions prevailed; an IFR flight plan in effect. As the pilot was attempting to intercept the localizer, radar and radio contact were lost. The accident site was about 12 miles south of the airport.
