The pilot lost control shortly after takeoff from a private airstrip and crashed into a wooded area at about 1600 Central time. Visual conditions prevailed. The airplane sustained substantial damage; the solo private pilot was fatally injured.

A witness reported the airplane’s wings rocked, then returned to wings level shortly after takeoff. The airplane turned left and flew over trees on the south side of the runway, which differed from the pilot’s normal procedure. Later that day, because the pilot did not return as expected, a search was initiated. The wreckage was spotted about 2330 hours.
