At about 2230 Pacific time, the airplane sustained substantial damage following a loss of engine power and subsequent forced landing on an Interstate highway. The private pilot and three passengers were not injured. Visual conditions prevailed.

The pilot subsequently reported the engine lost power and quit while in cruise flight at 3500 feet. A forced landing was made on the Interstate highway with the landing gear partially extended. The airplane subsequently came to rest partially on the highway and the highway median.
