At about 1500 Mountain time, the airplane was substantially damaged following a forced landing after a loss of engine power. The flight instructor and two student pilots were not injured. Visual conditions prevailed.

The flight instructor subsequently reported the engine suffered a partial loss of power about five miles from the intended destination. After activating the electric boost pump “…the engine surged and power was restored, but a short time later the engine totally quit.” The flight instructor then made a forced landing on a rough, uneven road with numerous berms. The airplane sustained substantial damage to both wings and its fuselage.
