The airplane sustained substantial damage at about 1030 Alaska time when its left main landing gear collapsed during landing on a gravel airstrip. The Private pilot and sole passenger were not injured. Visual conditions prevailed.

During a telephone conversation with an investigator, the pilot stated the left main landing gear collapsed as the airplane touched down on the gravel airstrip. He said an inspection of the gear revealed the landing gear attachment bolts had sheared off. The pilot reported the airplanes left wing and horizontal stabilizer were damaged during the accident.
