At 0855 Pacific time, the airplane impacted trees while maneuvering. The airline transport pilot and his two passengers received fatal injuries, and the aircraft was destroyed by the impact and a post-crash fire. The business flight was operating in an area of fog and low visibility.

According to witnesses, the aircraft was flying in and out of the fog on a southerly heading. Soon, the aircraft was seen climbing out of a fog layer on a northerly heading. Witnesses said the aircraft, sounded as if both engines were at full power. As the aircraft continued climbing to the north, it started clipping the tops of trees on the rising terrain, and shedding parts of its structure as a result of the impacts. Soon thereafter it impacted some larger trees, and ultimately settled to the terrain below.
