The airplane was destroyed at approximately 1805 Mountain time when it impacted a light pole and three unoccupied vehicles following a loss of engine power during final approach. The Private pilot and sole occupant sustained minor injuries. Visual conditions prevailed.

The pilot subsequently reported performing a “GUMPS” check; shortly afterward, the engine lost power. A restart attempt was not successful. The pilot executed a forced landing to the partially vacant parking lot. Approximately 24 gallons of fuel was drained from the left and right wing fuel tanks.
