At approximately 1250 Central time, the helicopter sustained substantial damage while making a run-on landing to a grass field. The pilot and the passenger sustained minor injuries. The helicopter was registered to and operated by the Department of Homeland Security as a public use aircraft. Visual conditions prevailed.

The pilot decided to land to wait out a delayed mission and made a run-on landing. As the helicopter touched down and moved forward, it nosed over and its main rotor blades struck the ground. The helicopter came to rest on its right side. Examination revealed damage to the fenestron and skids, plus the main and tail rotor blades.
