At about 1100 Pacific time, the airplane experienced a loss of engine power on final approach. The pilot subsequently landed short of the intended runway. The airline transport pilot was not injured. The airplane sustained substantial damage to the forward portion of the fuselage and wings. Visual conditions prevailed.

The pilot reported flying a normal traffic pattern for the intended runway; however, the airplane descended below a normal glidepath while on final approach. The pilot applied engine power to correct but the engine did not respond. The pilot subsequently landed short of the runway, where it collided with multiple small trees and a chain link fence gate before nosing over.
