At 1430 Eastern time, the airplane collided with trees while on approach. The CFI and student pilot received serious injuries, the airplane sustained substantial damage. Visual conditions prevailed.

According to the operator, the airplane was topped off with 51 gallons of fuel just prior to the instructional flight. According to the FAA, the CFI and student pilot were practicing a simulated left engine failure while on approach when the airplane collided with the trees.
